Disordered Eating and Body Image Counseling

Body Positive Counseling
Dr. Juleen Buser collaborates with clients to address disordered eating patterns and help clients develop body-positive attitudes.
She works from research-based strategies to help clients improve their relationship with food and their views about their bodies, such as critical consumption of media messages, attention to client values and sense of meaning in life, creation of a strong body-positive support system, and intentional choices to center attention and energy on body-positive messaging.
The role of parents
Dr. Juleen Buser specializes in working with parents who want to learn strategies to promote body acceptance in their children, as parent modeling and messages can be very influential.
Parents will learn key strategies, backed by research, which can help their children develop positive and affirming views about their bodies, such as attention to one's own body attitudes, shifts in language around how food, bodies, and eating are discussed, and how body-supportive comments can make a difference.
